Scratch Jr.

2/1’s have been introduced to Scratch Jr during FIRE. It is an introduction to coding and teaches students problem solving and procedural processes. Students can create simple animation and games by connecting command blocks into coding strings. Scratch Jr is the lead in version to Scratch (only available on computer). This app is free from the App Store and projects can be found through the Scratch Jr website http://www.scratchjr.org/

 

Pyonkee

Pyonkee is the app verpyonkeesion of Scratch (computer version). It builds on the skills from Scratch Jr and teaches students more advanced coding techniques. 4/3 and 6/5 students have explored Pyonkee in FIRE and have coded their own animated games. Students have  access to Scratch on the library computers and Pyonkee on the iPads at break times to allow students to develop the coding skills learnt in FIRE time.
